MESSAGE FROM HABIBIA ISLAMIC COLLEGE

The celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the arrival of Sufi Sahib (r.a.) to our shores can be clearly linked to increasing Islamic activity in South Africa. To him is ascribed the distinction of not only building mosques and centers of Islamic learning, but also of hoisting and holding high the flag of compassion, compromise and trust.

Habibia Islamic College can be said to be one of the many institutions that resulted from the pioneering spirit of Sufi Sahib. He may not have been physically present when the school was launched in the portals of the Habibia Masjid some twelve years ago, but his vision and foresight was almost a tangible presence.

It had been our good fortune that, with the tremendous support of Imam Baboo and Maulana Qutbodien, the school actually started on the floors of the very masjid built by Sufi Sahib (r.a.). We feel certain that it is through his prayers that we have been successful in our endeavours and have also developed an international reputation.

Habibia Islamic College seeks to continue the fine tradition of nurturing our children in the niceties of Islamic education and culture cultivated by the illustrious Sufi Sahib (r.a.). It is a great honour indeed to be part of a campus that is the only one of its kind in the world. The 100th anniversary is a milestone not only for the masjid but also for us!

May Allah, the Most High, protect us and continue to guide us, Insha-Allah.
