Habibia Soofie Saheb Masjid, Cape Town

Allah SWT says in the Holy Qur'aan: [Verily, Allah and His angels send salutations upon the Holy Prophet. Oh You who have faith! Send salutations upon him and greet him with all respect.]

Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SAW said: "Whosoever sends one salutation upon me, Allah sends ten salutations upon that person."

Our beloved Prophet SAW is the closest Wasilah (means of closeness) for us to Allah SWT, and emulating his example as best as possible is the best way to honour him.

Mercy for the World

"We sent thee not save as a mercy for the peoples." (Surah Anbiya XXI: 107)

God addresses the holy Prophet to tell him that he had been sent as a mercy for the whole world and all the peoples that might be born on this planet. This was, indeed, a unique declaration, a revolutionary proclamation for the entire humanity. And, this was instituted by God in a Scripture, which was destined to be read, after its revelation, in every age, time and clime, by billions of men in every nook and corner of the world. It was to have an unending line of exegetes, commentators and researchers who were to scan every word of it, evaluate its revelations and scrutinise the truth of its contents in the light of past and coming events.

Meeladun Nabi SAW: A brief history

One of the words that is often used to condemn certain religious activities in our community is the word bid’ah. Of course, a bid’ah is something new that was brought into Islam after the demise of Nabi Muhammad (s.a.w.s.). There are many things that we do that were brought into Islam later, and without those things our practice of Islam would be extremely difficult. The madhahib (Schools of Thought), the vowelling on the Qur’an, the 20 Tarawih prayers in congregation are all later developments but they have been of inestimable value in our practices.

This article is dedicated to the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) and all Muslims, especially the Muslims of South Africa.

Remembering the birthday of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (saw)

Every year, in this month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal, Muslims through out the Islamic World commemorate the birth of the beloved and most esteemed Prophet Muhammad (saw). He was sent as a messenger from Allah to guide and lead mankind from a state of ignorance and darkness to one of light and spiritual awakening.

When the Prophet (saw) was born, the signs of goodness, peace and tranquillity slowly began to manifest itself in the lives and characters of the people of Makkah, and all they interacted with, including the trees and animals. Thus the birth of the beloved Prophet (saw) was a mercy unto all creation.

The Legality of Celebrating the Meelad of the Glorious Nabi SAW

Nahmadahu Wa Nusalli Ala Rasoolihil Kareem Wa Ala Aalihi Wa Ashabihi Wa Awliya'i Wa Ulama'i Wa Fuqaha'i Wa Urafaa'i Was Saaliheen Ridwanullahi Ta'ala Alaihim Ajma'in. Sallal Laahu Alan Nabiyil Ummi'yi Wa Aalihi Sallal Laahu Alaika Wa Sallam Salaataw Wa Salaaman Alaika Ya Rasoolallah!

Whenever people want to promote and advance their ways and beliefs, they pave their way to spread falsehood amongst the Muslim masses, especially to those who have limited knowledge of the Deen. They misquote and fabricate facts to confuse the lay-man and change his way of thinking.

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W: An Exalted Example of Character

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger S.A.W.

In the beginning, it should be noted that our love for our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is really great. This love places many obligations and duties on our shoulders. Among these duties is to show respect to him, study his Biography and follow in his footsteps, defend him against any misconception and to try to spread the truth about his morals, manners and Sunnah.

Referring to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) Allah, Most High, says, “And you (stand) on an exalted standard of character.” (Al-Qalam 68: 4) “Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.” (Al-Ahzab 33: 21)

The Excellence Of Durood Sharief

Allah says in the Holy Quran, “And WE raised you in praise/rememberance.”

The Blessed Prophet of Islam, The Prophet of Peace, Muhammed S.A.W, is Allah’s greatest creation. Allah himself praised our blessed Prophet S.A.W in many instances, for His character and His patience and perseverance. But no praise can be greater than what Allah says in the Holy Quran, in Surah Al Ahzab verse 56, “Indeed Allah and His Angels send salutations on The Messenger, O’ You who believe, You also send salutations upon him!” This verse of the Holy Quran made it compulsory upon all the believing men and women to send salutations upon the Blessed Messenger S.A.W. It also raises the Prophet S.A.W in status, for Allah himself, Our creator, Our Nourisher, He who is not dependent on any creation, He who is one, The Supreme, is informing us that He also sends salutations upon the beloved, Muhammad S.A.W, and that Allah has also made it obligatory on the Angels to also send Salutations on the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.
